Logrotate on Ubuntu 18.04

Apps4Rent LLC

A handy tool to control the /var/log directory

As the name suggests, it rotates the log files.

Logrotate is a utility service which manages the log files' automatic rotation and compression. If log files were not rotated, compressed, and periodically pruned, they could eventually consume all available disk space on a system. Each log file may be handled daily, weekly, monthly, or when it grows too large. Generally, Logrotate runs a cron job daily.

If no command line arguments are given, Logrotate will print version and copyright information, along with a short usage summary. If any errors occur while rotating logs, Logrotate will exit with non-zero status.

The Logrotate solution is installed on top of Ubuntu 18.04 installed on Azure. Tested by Apps4Rent engineers, this solution is been proven to work well on Azure.
