Oracle to PostgreSQL on Azure: 4Wk-6Mth Implementation
doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH
Data migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL on Azure
In the "Migration" phase, a complete data migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL based on Azure takes place after the preparations of the previous "Assessment" and "Proof of Concept" phases. In addition to setting up reports in advance, subsequent cleansing and continuous quality assurance are also carried out.
Our approach in the migration phase:
Content from the Assessment + PoC phase is incorporated here:
Analysis: Comparison of the source and target data model, the data structures and definition of the necessary data mappings; data that is no longer relevant or qualitatively unusable is identified (including during the repeated production-related test iterations)
Implementation: Migration tools for the highest possible degree of automation of the migration as well as monitoring and automatic reporting are set up
Migration: Data from the legacy or source system is converted, cleansed and, if necessary, completed for the target data system and then migrated to Azure
Evaluation: Once the data has been successfully transferred, a migration and performance report provides information about the migration, possible errors and the need for rework/aftercare. Key users carry out a functional system test
Aftercare: This is where previously identified problems, inconsistencies and errors can be checked and rectified. The aim is to ensure the quality of the target system through intensive reworking and correction, if necessary
Migration services include
Implementation:
Preparation of source system (data mapping)
