An assessment workshop on how Azure hosted services can provide near real-time insights that operations and maintenance can use to build a safer, more reliable and remote friendly inspection strategy
From roads, highways, and bridges to electric utility substations, today’s infrastructure requires large investments, including capital and labor, to provide the upkeep required to maintain operations. In a world that is quickly embracing the electrification of everything, electricity must continue to flow 24/7, uninterrupted. To improve operations and enhance safety and security measures, utilities require newer and more efficient methods of collecting data, resulting in faster and better insights. In order to address these challenges, we work with customers to provide real-time information that operations and maintenance needs to build a safer, more predictive, remote-friendly, and efficient operations and maintenance strategy.
For remote inspection and monitoring of critical infrastructure of electrical substations, it's important for utility customers to adopt cloud based applications which are scalable and that can be deployed with speed. This assessment workshop takes a consultative approach to analyze customer requirements and solution drivers. Using Hitachi Digital Services' patented 3D device simulator visualizer tool we perform technical design on the 3D models for substations. This enables us to remotely perform design while highlighting the points of interest. By using visual spectrum and thermal cameras, IoT sensors, robots, drones, ruggedized edge gateways, Azure cloud based services, and video and data analytics, we can help customers to realize remote and autonomous inspections.
This workshop illustrates the role of IoT, cloud and AI/ML in creating a safer, more dependable, and operationally streamlined energy grid for the future. This solution enables the customer to refine manual inspections, cut operational and maintenance expenses, and enhance real time analytics and thus improving asset reliability. With the advent of Generative AI power consumption needs, a stable energy supply will become more important. With a focus on future-proofing mission critical infrastructure, we are working towards empowering utility companies to deliver in this high-demand energy landscape.
