Power BI Monitor: 2 Week Implementation
Self-contained IaC and app codebase to pull your Power BI Metadata and initiate your BI governance.
Companies everywhere are on a journey to modernize their analytics practices, but we have experienced time and again a series of trends among BI organizations:
* a lack of trust in the data
* fragmented data sources
* bottlenecks in report generation
* Excel-driven cultures
Power BI now offers Admin API's that allow for robust scraping of all the data that underlies an organization's Power BI implementation including dashboards, reports, datasets, dataflows, data sources, and users, as well as usage information. Our accelerator is capable of scraping that data on regular intervals and place them in a purpose-built Azure SQL Database, in a simple, normalized format that BI experts are extremely familiar with, allowing them to start finding insights and answers to questions such as...
* How are we measuring behavior change and adoption?
* How are we managing and governing content?
* How are we enabling data discovery?
* Do we have the appropriate licenses or capacity to sufficiently serve our BI community?
The Power BI Monitor Accelerator comes as a completely self-contained code repository. With just a few configuration steps, an Azure DevOps pipeline executes Infrastructure as Code to deploy all the necessary Azure resources required for an ene-to-end integration with those Power Admin API's. The integration is achieved through a custom Azure Function that scrapes, parses, and inserts data to an Azure SQL Database while conforming to Azure best practices for secret management, identity, least privilege, and monitoring. Lastly, the solution is CI/CD-ready to be customized and iterated on and can support as many environments as your organization typically uses.
While starting an enterprise data governance journey can be a daunting task, having full visibility into how your organization uses its data is a powerful tool and one we can help you get started with today.
