The Academic Knowledge API answers these and other questions by applying the Knowledge Exploration Service to the Microsoft Academic Graph. Users can start from natural language queries, or you can ping the graph directly through structured query expressions.

Additionally, the Academic Knowledge API can auto-complete natural language queries and return entity results, helping users narrow research results faster. It can also create a histogram of attribute values for academic entries returned by a query, for example, the distribution of papers by year for an author.
