The VRP Isolation Service enables isolation of cell free DNA, RNA, and extracellular vesicles.

Freely circulating macromolecules, including cell free DNA, RNA, and extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, can be found in blood. These biomarkers have been shown to carry information related to various conditions, including disease status and potential responses to treatment. Unfortunately, reliably accessing these molecules has proven difficult because of various technical limitations, including cost, time, biasing of targets, and/or a lack of selectivity for biomarkers of interest. While these problems can be overcome in a research lab setting, translating these biomarkers into clinical solutions has been more challenging. Therefore, new tools are needed that can translate from biomarker discovery through to the clinic.

The VRP Isolation Service utilizes Biological Dynamics novel AC Electrokinetics based microarrays to specifically capture DNA greater than 300 bp, which is primarily derived from cell necrosis or extracellular vesicles carrying proteins and RNA. Following isolation, these biomarkers can be investigated using standard lab techniques, including genomics and proteomics. The VRP Isolation Service offers several advantages over other methods including:
    • Novel way to access valuable biomarkers (EVs and genomic markers) for unbiased biomarker discovery
    • Low sample requirements (120 µL to 1 mL of K2EDTA plasma)
    • Rapid viewing of results using PowerBI portal enables easier analysis.
    • Services offered through CLIA/CAP accredited or research labs to meet customer needs.

Following isolation, materials can be returned to the partner for their own analysis, or further analysis can be performed by Biological Dynamics. Data on studies is accessible to partners through a PowerBI enabled dashboard, with results stored an Azure hosted database.
