Deploy DoD Cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Azure with automated deployment scripts.
DoD Cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Azure delivers the power of automation to standup pre-configured, pre-authorized platform-as-a-service (PaaS) focused environments in Azure Government to support Department of Defense (DoD) workloads up to Impact Level 5 (IL5).
Under a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), Microsoft assisted the Defense Information System Agency’s (DISA) Cloud Computing Program Office (CCPO) and DoD Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) Information Environment (IE) in its development of IaC templates that build standard environments in Azure Government to accelerate DoD cloud adoption.
This Azure Government Marketplace solution deploys a Windows 2019 Server and downloads all the DoD Cloud IaC artifacts and provisioning instructions. You need to login to the Windows Server and execute the provisioning instructions that are required to complete the DoD Cloud IaC deployment. Once fully deployed, the solution provides a real-time continuous monitoring and compliance with authorization from the DISA Risk Management Executive (RME) with a significant amount of common control inheritance in eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service) to expedite user’s Assessment and Authorization (A&A) actions. The solution is expected to decrease deployment timelines from 30 weeks down to potentially as little as 2 hours (reducing time needed in design, manual deployment, configuration, and A&A work). Also, DoD Cloud IaC provides a built-in integration to support the application level Common Access Card (CAC) authentication with DISA’s Global Directory service.
Note that mission owners are responsible for getting their own Cloud Service Security Provider (CSSP) to monitor their cloud environment as well as a Cloud Access Point (CAP) connection.
For more information on this solution, please see the DoD Cloud IaC for Azure documentation.
Note: There is no charge for deploying this DoD Cloud IaC solution. However, your subscription may incur charges for an aggregate cost of the underlying Azure resources deployed. For information on pricing, usage amounts, and billing on Azure services, see Azure Pricing.
